First day of Conference Festivities
We shared a quick breakfast then headed to our devotional time. After our devotional, the kids and service team went off to complete their tasks. Some stayed back from the children’s team to help with check-in. While others were able to go on a gondola ride that overlooked the whole town. After dinner, the children’s team went to their rooms to wait for the arrival of their kids. Most kids seemed very excited to see their friends from other countries as well as revisiting members of the children’s team. The first night went over pretty smooth and we are excited to experience a full day tomorrow! Please pray for good health and energy amongst the children and leaders.
The Service Team split up today for various tasks. One pair each left before dawn, to the Frankfurt and Dusseldorf airports to welcome inbound missionaries and GEM Staff and direct them to returning buses. The last of the airport teams returned to the hotel after 7:00 pm.
Dennis and Paulina (team members from Canada) set up the registration table, greeting and handing out name tags to all the arrivals. Curtis prepared and manned the media booth, the calmest of our entire team. He is a great asset to the GEM staff.
It’s easy to get focused on accomplishing tasks, and we need to be diligent in showing love to those we’re serving and serving with. We have witnessed and administered much grace. When we see someone struggling, it’s an honor to stop and pray, presenting them to the Lord for peace. As we meet the GEM missionaries, were reminded how small the world really is, when we discover mutual acquaintances and hometowns. We truly feel among family here.
Tonite the conference started with worship and the new GEM presidents welcome. Ironically, last year they were in transition of a new president and made a point of praying for us and our senior pastor transition. How fun it was to acknowledge answered prayers on both sides, as we welcomed our new pastor the same week their new president was able to greet them all in person.
As the evening closed, the teams rest and prepare for an early start to a full day tomorrow. Pray for rest, health and continued unity.
